Primary Purpose:
The candidate for this role works with the business client to correlate and sift through multiple data types and sources with the goal of discovering insights and patterns, which in turn can provide a competitive advantage for the business or address a pressing business problem. After extracting data and formulating models, the position will be responsible for communicating and informing conclusions and recommendations across the organization. This position will leverage data science expertise and best practices, as well as gain and/or utilize existing subject matter knowledge pertaining to wildfire and climate science, grid operation and engineering, electrification, among other subjects, to acquire and operationalize useful insights for the business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, test and deploy predictive models, formulas, and measurements that provide analytical insight to the cause and/or solution of a business problem.

Research the different business problems that require a potential analysis of data for a solution. Analyze large datasets and identify patterns. Evaluate actionable solutions.

Interpolate and communicate the outcomes of the formulas in addressing the business problem. Present the solution to the organization.
- Evaluate the different types of data that could potentially address the business problem.
- Coordinates with individuals and teams of the tasks that are required to retrieve data.
- Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Hybrid Schedule:
- Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow the employee to work onsite three days per week and remotely on the remaining workdays.
- Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Master's Degree Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- 3-5 years related experience.
- Must have a basic background in statistics algorithms and mathematics or equivalent job experience.
- Experience with statistical modeling tools such as SAS, SPSS, R, or other statistical tools.
- Limited experience in extraction, transforming, loading(ETL) technologies.
- Basic foundation in interpretation of models, evaluation of trends, and statistical outcomes.
- Must be able to extract data from databases, such as SQL Server, Oracle, and OSI PI.
- Capabilities in statistics and quantitative research.
- Capable of assisting in solving business problems through data analytics and analysis.
- Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- Requires strong business acumen, coupled with the ability to interrogate data to address business problems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred domain experience in data trends on the electric and gas networks.
