Postdoctoral Research Associate
Job Description
Work type: Full-time
Location: Storrs Campus
Categories: Postdoctoral Research Associates
JOB SUMMARY
The Computational Climate Change Laboratory in the University of Connecticut Department of Earth Sciences is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on an NSF-funded project on reducing climate model uncertainty with proxy data from Cenozoic warm intervals. The successful candidate will join a team of scientists from multiple U.S. institutions to identify model parameter space that allows successful simulations of Cenozoic warm intervals and present-day.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate will take a lead role in developing perturbed parameter ensemble simulations and statistical models to sample model parameter space and compare simulations with proxy records. The successful candidate will have prior experience in setting up user-defined simulations with a complex model on a high-performance computing cluster, and background knowledge on Cenozoic climate and model development. The candidate should be able to work independently or as part of a research team and should have a strong commitment to mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in the lab.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- The position requires a Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Earth Sciences or related discipline and experience in climate modeling.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience in setting up complex climate model simulations.
- Strong background in paleoclimate and statistical data analysis.
- A record of publishing work in high-quality journals.
