Job Description
DescriptionDo you have a passion for DevSecOps, cloud environments, and ization? Are you someone who thrives in solving complex CI/CD challenges and ensuring seamless deployments? If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL.
We are seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to help us manage and optimize our CI/CD pipelines across both low and high-side environments, including on a government-owned Kubernetes platform. Our work includes deploying advanced signal processing capabilities, and we need someone to help ensure our pipelines are robust and well-maintained to support new and existing projects effectively. This includes maintenance and improvements to virtual machines (VMs) hosting GitLab runners, ization efforts, and cloud environments. Additionally, you will facilitate improvements in cyber scans, static code analysis, and ized environments for new projects.
As a DevSecOps Engineer:
- You will facilitate continuous integration and continuous development (CI/CD) pipelines, ensuring they remain reliable and responsive.
- You will assist in ization efforts, helping new projects adopt -based solutions using Docker and Kubernetes.
- You will ensure security measures such as cyber scans and static code analysis are integrated into our pipelines.
- You will collaborate with teams to improve pipeline efficiency and overall project deployment times.
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
- Possess a Bachelors in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or another field relevant to the duties as described above
- Have 3+ years of experience working with CI/CD pipelines, especially in environments with Kubernetes and Docker
- Are familiar with GitLab runners and are comfortable managing and troubleshooting VM-based CI/CD solutions
- Have knowledge of ization practices and the use of Docker/Kubernetes for development and production environments
- Are familiar with Linux-based networking, including secure computer-to-computer communication and data encryption
- Are able to obtain an Interim Top Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a TS/SCI level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...
- Possess a Masters in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field
- Have 5+ years of experience working with CI/CD pipelines, especially in environments with Kubernetes and Docker.
- Have 3+ years of experience working within classified or high-security environments, particularly with DevSecOps tools and processes.
- Are familiar with cloud environments like AWS and tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Grafana, Prometheus, Elasticsearch/Kibana, and Apache Kafka.
- Hold security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CompTIA A+, or similar.
- Have experience with authentication systems and working within government deployment environments.
- Have an active TS/SCI clearance.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development. $90,000 Annually
Maximum Rate
$220,000 Annually
