Job Summary:
The Division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (IR) has an opening for a two year research fellowship, focused on clinical outcomes and health services research. The candidate will report directly to the Division Chief Premal Trivedi MD MS and will be expected to participate in a wide range of research projects. A primary responsibility will be participation in mixed methods research focused on improving inferior vena cava filter retrieval, funded by the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association. Quantitative research will entail use of Big Data to examine utilization and outcomes of various IR therapies; multiple national data sources are available for analysis through Dr. Trivedi’s lab.
Other clinical outcomes research involves registry building and outcomes analysis focused on innovative IR therapies, in particular the examination of cholangioscopy in the modern IR lab, dosimetry for yttrium-90 radioembolization, adrenal vein sampling and pain interventions. There are also opportunities to contribute to clinical trials developed at the University of Colorado focused on genicular artery embolization and hemorrhoid embolization. The division also participates in numerous multisite national trials.
Some clinical exposure is feasible for those interested, to further enrich the research responsibilities and to build a portfolio of relevant experience for subsequent clinical opportunities.
The Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to dedicate 90% of her/his time to conduct experiments and record research results, summarize novel research findings for grant reports, prepare manuscripts for publications and grant submissions. The fellow will be expected to coordinate and run weekly lab meetings to facilitate team progress across the various research projects.
The fellow will be exposed to numerous training opportunities in clinical and translational imaging research methods through interactions with researchers from the Department of Radiology, Department of Medicine, and Colorado School of Public Health. The Postdoctoral Fellow is also encouraged to attend relevant research seminars among options offered by the Department of Radiology, Colorado Clinical and Translation Sciences Institute (CCTSI) and Center for Innovative Design and Analysis (CIDA).
The duties of this position may change from time to time and/or based on needs of the research endeavors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Routine general management of research team resources including servers, databases, and analytic software packages.
- Ordering resources as needed
- Providing guidance to graduate and undergraduate students, and other research team analysts as appropriate
- Communicating with key personnel at other institutions via email, phone calls and text to facilitate grant-related work
- Conduct qualitative interviews under the supervision of Dr. Trivedi and the ACCORDS mixed methods core content experts.
- Generate and maintain procedural databases in interventional radiology to facilitate outcomes research analysis.
- Consent patients for study enrollment
- Generate and distribute surveys for research
Work Location:
Onsite – this role is expected to work on site and is located at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Research experience in some of the following areas: clinical outcomes, statistical analysis, qualitative interviews, database creation and management.
- Demonstrated evidence of critical thinking.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Record of research experience and productivity
